Yesterday, on the anniversary of the discovery of DNA, Inebir joined the demonstrations promoted by the Platform for the creation of the Multidisciplinary Specialty of Clinical Genetics, which demand a Royal Decree regulating the Specialty of Genetics in 2024.
Inebir Seville has been the focal point of this movement, as these demonstrations have been held in various parts of Spain, the only country in the European Union that does not have a Genetics specialty. The creation of a Multidisciplinary Specialty in Clinical Genetics is an urgent necessity that must complement the Common Catalog of Genetic Tests.
These demands arise in response to the following needs:
- Equitable access to genetic testing: ensuring equitable access to genetic testing for all patients with potential genetic conditions in the Spanish Public Health System.
- Early diagnosis: facilitating early diagnosis, crucial for the treatment of genetic diseases.
- More personalized care: improving diagnosis and genetic counseling for patients and their families.
- Recognition of the profession: to recognize and value the work of professionals dedicated to Genetics in the field of Health and to guarantee adequate, specialized, homogeneous and regulated training for future experts in Clinical Genetics.
At Inebir, patients come first. Therefore, knowing that patients will be the main beneficiaries, we are doing our part by working to make the Multidisciplinary Clinical Genetics Specialty a reality in 2024.
