Most people undergoing fertility treatments experience anxiety and depression at some point during the process, along with feelings of hopelessness, guilt, helplessness, powerlessness, sadness, frustration, anger, fear, and low self-esteem. Communication problems between partners, social withdrawal, and interference with work performance are also common.
Therefore, in Inebir We are aware of the need and importance of protecting the mental health of the people who come to our clinic, prioritizing emotional care and offering a specialized psychological intervention service.
Our Psychology Unit It offers individual consultations, couples therapy, and group therapy.
What is group therapy?
It is a form of therapy in which a group of people (between 5 and 10) meet, guided by a specialized professional.
The people who participate not only learn about themselves and how to deal with their problems, but they also have the opportunity to act as helpers to others and learn from their experiences.
This type of therapy has been widely used and accepted for over 50 years, and scientific studies have shown it to be a safe and effective practice. Sometimes, group therapy is offered as the main form of psychological treatment, and at other times, it is combined with individual therapy, enhancing its effect in most cases.
Why participate in a therapy group?
The group provides a place to share experiences, concerns, feelings, and to better understand each other's situations.

– What can I do to feel better?
– What resources do I have available and which ones do I need to develop?
Participants will be guided on the most frequent and common emotions that arise during fertility treatment and the exchange of experiences will be facilitated. Techniques and exercises will also be carried out.
How long does the group last?
It has a limited time.Initially, there will be approximately 6 sessions.
Depending on the group's work pace and the motivation of the attendees, the sessions could be extended for a few more days.
The sessions last 90 minutes.
I want to participate but I have some doubts:
It's normal to have questions before joining a group. Therefore, you will have a prior appointment with the Dr. María de Gracia León (Head of the Psychology Unit at Inebir) and will be able to solve any problems that may arise.

One of the most frequent questions is: Will I feel uncomfortable talking about my problems with people I don't know? It's important to know that it's common to feel uncomfortable in a group at first, but little by little a climate of trust is established, and most participants find in the group an intimate and confidential space where they can express their feelings.
What can I do to participate?
Those interested can request the service by writing an email to Dr. León (mariadegracia.leon@inebir.com) or by providing their contact information to Patient Care (in person or by telephone 954 30 26 83).
Once you have submitted your application, Dr. León will interview you. During this interview, she will address any questions or concerns you may have about participating in the group and will provide you with the session schedule so you can plan your attendance. This schedule will include the day, time, and meeting place.
